Championship Recap:

Ford Martin (Light) and Zack Strowd (Heavy) were crowned the 2015 Fall Rental League Powered by Sunoco Race Fuels Champions tonight following Round Five, the series finale for the five-week series. Last week, we crowned Warren Greenlee as Champion of the Masters (40+yo) division in their 3-week championship series.

These Champions are the first to dominate the three different track layouts used in the new League format. Also, as Champions of our final Rental Kart League of the year, their championship reigns will go unchallenged until 2016!

Over $1,200 in championship prizes were awarded to the champions and top-three finishers in the Light and Heavy divisions during a special ceremony following the racing action this evening.

Light Division: 
Ford Martin entered championship night on a mission. He had to win all three races tonight to secure the Light Division Championship. Sweeping an entire Rental League night is rare, but the pressure didn’t faze Martin. He had his dream night, dominating over the field to win all three races.

The points leader going into the final round, Devin Jones, opted to take tonight as his ‘drop round’ and was not in attendance. Adding to the excitement, Martin and Jones were tied for the championship with 2,075 points and it took two tiebreakers to determine the winner.

Martin defied the odds to win the 2015 Summer Rental League Powered by Sunoco Race Fuels Light Division Championship. Martin earned a $100 Sunoco Gas Station Gift Card as well as a 10-rental race package for his Championship, followed by Jones in second place and Sam McAulay in third place in the standings.

Heavy Division:
It came down to another nail-biter in the Heavy Division championship as well. Securing his title as 2015 Heavy Division Fall Rental League Powered by Sunoco Race Fuels Champion, Zack Strowd won the final race of the night. His closest competition came from Robert Showalter, the 2015 Summer Rental League Champion. Showalter and Strowd dueled tightly throughout the past five weeks, each earning their share of wins. However, it came down to just 50 points to determine the championship with Strowd edging out Showalter for the crown. Showalter settled for second and Trip Quesenberry came home third with a consistent run throughout the championship. Prizes for the Champions included gas cards and rental race packages in the Heavy Division as well.

Masters Division Championship:
The Rental League Powered by Sunoco Race Fuels features a relatively new division of Masters drivers who are 40+ years old. The Masters Division of the rental league runs a three-week miniseries. Top Masters Division driver, Warren Greenlee, is tough to beat as the reigning Summer 2015 Rental League Powered by Sunoco Race Fuels Champion. Continuing his dominant streak in the Fall League, he won four of the nine races, crowning him as the Fall 2015 Fall Champion over Don Winchester in second and Darrel Marshall in third place in the final points standings.
